Community Projects

RDF has much wider aims than simply making films.

Green Dog

We have several strands to our current work.

1. We are working in partnership with Darwin Fields to protect a 6 acre nature reserve in Lincoln, near Wragby Road.

2. In a partnership with volunteers, landowners and West Lindsey district council we are developing a wildlife reserve project in the village of Newtoft. We are still developing the project but indications are positive.

3. We regularly provide sponsorship for local green groups, such as the Lincoln Conservation Group, Lincolnshire RSPB, the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

Sanctuary

Added: 30 April 2012

In a partnership with Buckinghamshire based Sanctuary Trust, we are working at developing a wide spread mental health service supporting families and people with thoughts of suicide. As this project is developed, we'll include more info.

Film For The Third Sector

Added: 29 February 2012 Inspired by our background, Red Dog Film CIC obtained subsidy from the Lincolnshire County Council to put together a comprehensive year long programme of training, support and filmmaking for charitable groups in Lincolnshire, especially for those that are not able to access expensive skills because they are small or struggling.

We have extended our connection to the third sector through the Media Trust and the Lincolnshire community Foundation, with whom we provide a similar service with a more hands on training angle.

Lincolnshire is a rural community, primarily focused on agriculture, with low diversity in population, ideals and economics. There are many here who believe that film is irrelevant to the third sector and there is an historical precedent for this. Films have been made that are either not up to scratch and might do more damage than good or they sit on a shelf and very little is done with them. This is often because they were made without due consideration as to why they were required. Obviously, expense is a big obstacle... and that, in itself, breeds an unfamiliarity. This means that the power of short films is beyond the reach of many groups as they struggle to succeed in the current climate, especially as public funds are reducing.

We propose a greater depth of change than simply making a few films but a widely available, and free, programme of filmmaking, training, equipment resources, advise and strategy.
